Stone Sculpting and Modelling with Clay Drawing and Painting with Water Colours

In this art class you can experience three of the oldest arts and crafts of mankind. You will get individual advice to sculpt a stone after your own design. You will learn how to use stonemasons’ tools, like they have been used for thousands of years. In addition you may form sculptures with clay, using self made attrezzi (tools) of olive wood, fit to your necessities. If you prefer to draw and paint with water colors, you will find the most interesting motifs around La Rogaia. No previous experience is required to participate - just a little patience ...

Be inspired by the ancient cultural tradition of Umbria. Lake Trasimeno lies in the heart land of Etruscan culture: discover the antique roots of European sculpting, ceramics and painting. There are Etruscan tomb sites and museums with prehistoric, Etruscan and Roman artworks to be visited in our vicinity. Or join us for an art trip to an exhibition of contemporary sculpture.

Fee:
EUR 450 per person per week with lodging in double room (shared bathroom for 3 - 4 persons)

EUR 570 per person per week with lodging in single room (shared bathroom for 3 - 4 persons)

EUR 500 per person per week with lodging in private apartment “La Pipo” or “I Cuccioli” with bathroom, kitchenette and private terrace (double occupancy)

EUR 535 per person per week with lodging in private apartment “La Grapo” with bathroom, kitchenette and private terrace (double occupancy)

Price includes:
Teaching for the entire week of the course, i.e. 6 hours of instruction on 6 days.
Basic set of tools (for stone sculpting or modelling with clay)
A local sand stone for sculpting or clay for modelling
Umbria-Tourist-Card for reduced entrance tickets to museums and for discount in many shops in Umbria

Price does not include:
Food. There is the possibility for selfcatering either in a spacious common kitchen or in the apartments. There are restaurants and shops at the village of Castel Rigone at 4 km distance from La Rogaia.
Materials for water colour painting

Please contact La Rogaia about details of instruction, lodging and food. The class takes place at Villa La Rogaia, an outstanding Umbrian country house with many gardens. It is situated near Lake Trasimeno between Rome and Florence. Participants stay in individually crafted double or single rooms (shared bathroom for two bedrooms) or in holiday apartments (for two persons), partly at the village of Castel Rigone at 4 km distance from La Rogaia.
